WELCOME TO THE CONVERSE POLICE DEPARTMENT WEBSITE
Thank you for taking the time to visit our website to learn more about our police department and about our community. We want our citizens and those who come here for work or simply visit our fair city to know that we care about safety and quality of life. The City of Converse has so much to offer families, homeowners, business owners, and visitors.
Police Career
I have over thirty-years in various areas of law enforcement, including sixteen years in command up to Assistant Chief of Police. I started my law enforcement journey with the City of El Paso Police Department and worked my way to the rank of Lieutenant. During that time, I commanded several specialized units within the organization, such as the Bomb Squad, SWAT, K-9-unit, Aviation unit, Dignitary Protection Unit, Investigations, Special Operations, Community Services, Office of Emergency Management, and the City Metro Unit.
Education
Through the years, I’ve been able to acquire my Master’s degree in Public Administration, a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Science Justice, and hold a Master Peace Officers License with the Texas Commission of Law Enforcement. I have completed advanced management training which include the National Association of Chief of Police Leadership Series, Advanced Fire Leadership Training, and attended Bill Blackwood LEMIT of Texas.
Philosophy
As Police Chief, I realize that it is important to implement appropriate policies and procedures to guide our employees. However, I believe that it is the people in our organization and the people in our community who make the difference. Our Mission Statement, listed below, clearly shows our focus and priorities.
The mission of the Converse Police Department is to effectively and efficiently provide for the protection of lives and property, preserve the public peace, and provide needed community services with the highest level of professionalism and ethical standards.
The members of the Converse Police Department shall:
- Seek to provide first-class public safety services for our community while maintaining the highest level of ethics, integrity, and accountability to the law-abiding citizens and stakeholders of Converse.
- Through fair and impartial enforcement of the law
- While working in partnership with all segments of our diverse community in proactive efforts to reduce crime and address conditions that may foster the fear of crime.
Whether you want to live, work, or play in Converse or if you’re simply interested in learning more, please take the time to check us out! I think you will find that the City of Converse has much to offer you.
It is an honor and a privilege to serve as your Police Chief. I hope to continue to do so as long as I can be worthy of your trust and respect.
Sincerely,
